On 16th October 2018, Google released an update to their Chrome browser. One of the new features to this update is the distrust of SSL certificates issued by Symantec or one of their subsidiaries. Later this year, Mozilla plans to update their Firefox browser with a similar feature.

A couple of years ago, I attending a local networking event with a small group of professionals from various industries. We were at the very start of the event, where everyone takes turns to introduce themselves and give their elevator pitch, when one gentleman (let's call him "Bob") introduced himself as a web designer and proudly said the following:
I was at a swanky dinner and dance event not too long ago and I bumped into a very old and dear friend. It had been ages since we saw last saw each other. So, after the customary hugs, sharing photos of our respective children, and commenting on how much they've grown, we pledged to keep in touch. She asked me for my number so I told her that my number hadn't changed. It's actually the same one I've had since 1994! She then explained that she had recently changed phones and hadn't yet transferred all of her contacts. I then made a face similar to the one below.
